Wolves

In June 2018 I was asked to head up BirminghamLive’s Wolverhampton Wanderers coverage.

My aim was to grow an audience through original and unique content ideas. Month on month we are seeing a significant increase in the number of Wolves fans using our website to the extent that we now have a loyal following.

I’ve achieved this by assessing what my rivals are doing and ticking every box which they aren’t – and I’ve put fans at the forefront of our coverage.

Our Wolves social media audience was previously non existent. However, I’ve established a big audience on both Facebook and Twitter to such an extent that the majority of Wolves page views are arriving through those platforms.

Wolves in Europe

Wolves qualified for European football for the first time in 39 years by finishing seventh in the 2018/19 Premier League season.

I followed the club through a campaign which began at Molineux against Crusaders on July 25, 2019 and ended against Sevilla in August 2020 in Duisburg. My aim was to produce engaging content before, during and after matches while reflecting the fan experience.

FC Jumilla

I arranged to visit Spain to check out Wolves’ partner club FC Jumilla in October 2018.

Whilst I was in Murcia I managed to bag several exclusive interviews and produce articles which were very well read and received by our audience.

I was given access to the nine Wolves players on loan at FC Jumilla as well as their owner Steven Lee, sporting director Pedro Asensio and manager Leonel Pontes.

I also broke the news that the partnership had been terminated after one full season and reported the details surrounding Jumilla’s liquidation in 2019.

Pre-season 2022

I travelled to Spain and Portugal to cover all of Wolves’ pre-season games in 2022. I wanted to give supporters insight from behind-the-scenes, in addition to coverage of the matches Wolves played against Alaves, Levante, Besiktas, Sporting and Farense.

I was given access to a Wolves training session taken by Bruno Lage which provided insight into his much anticipated formation change. During my time away with Wolves in pre-season, I was also able to produce lots of player interviews – including an in-depth feature with new signing Nathan Collins.

Here is some of the work I produced:
